A Glimpse of My Neighborhood
sofia sierra
The hazy lights illuminated paths
Where shadows lingered, prowling homes whose bright,
Yet humble lights prevail stars of the night.
My neighborhood draws muddy cats whose wrath
Makes icky centipedes wilt under spathe.
The creeping desert moths are shooed with fright
Engulfed by darkness from the moon, a slight
Reminder of the curse, sick aftermath.
Eclipse is over, cruel moon is gone
A prickly cactus softens, floppy spines
Unwinding petals, waking up to greet
The children skipping, merry little fawns.
A forest made of hanging clothes, and rows
Of trinkets, jewelry shinning from the street.
