Epistolary Manipulated Fourteen Line Poem to El Paso & Myself

crisel sayeli

Eyes closed, when my nose hits that dust smell,

I know I’m in El Paso.

Summer lingered to welcome me back ~

Sun City shining pretty for me.

Scorching rays, kisses from Hell.

The Sun, like a crush, making me blush pinks & reds.

Next year at this time, I’ll be missing them well.

& just like Felina, I will have kissed this place goodbye.

Until then, this desert is my oyster &

if I dare dive deep in it, what will I find?

Hopefully poetry, people, potential, & p o s s i b i l i t i e s .

So I take this Pachuco’s hand to finish what I started;

write, read, & create more than I haven’t.

Then drive back home, feeling accomplished.
