Most days I stare at nothing. A blank
wall, an empty bedroom, a bare bathroom. I see
the light switch on and off like a game of tag, yet you
never take a glimpse. Not
a glance, not a glare, but I catch
a flash of you, don’t want to see
me. When you need me, I am there,
every morning, every night.
Brush your hair, your teeth,
wash your hands, your face.
Every now and again I see you
smile.
Every now and again I see you
frown.
Do you need my validation or your own? Regardless,
It hurts to see how I can cause you pain, yet I hold onto the day
you see me
and you like what you see.
