An Undying Day
devoe smith
The human mind is a fragile thing.
I wake up, shower, and eat.
I put on my suit and go to the office.
I clock in and go to work,
Making greetings to coworkers.
I type at my desk mindlessly,
Not even seeing what’s on the screen.
Then the sun sets as I go home
To rest up for the next day.
the Human mind is a Fragile Thing.
I wake up and get ready for work,
Eating the same cereal, smelling as stale as rocks.
I pour the milk with precision,
Ensuring I get the correct amount.
Though I see the carton still full,
Like it was brand new and unopened.
Just…
Then I go to work like any other day.
The Human Mind Is A Fragile Thing.
I wake up, shower, and eat.
I put on my suit and go,
Feeling the stench burn my nose.
I walk in and see the others,
Watching their faceless heads watch me like hawks.
They have no eyes, yet their looks burn into my head.
Let…
I type at my desk like any other day.
The HUMAN Mind IS a FRAGILE Thing.
I wake up to see those beasts tower above me.
They talk in a long-dead and ancient language,
Watching me with their countless eyes.
I try to scream out, but only dust escapes my lungs.
I can feel my mind split like wood,
As their voices get louder.
Me…
Then I fall asleep like any other day.
T H E H U M A N M I N D I S A F R A G I L E T H I N G.
I go to work,
A forced smile on my face.
I type at my desk,
Now seeing my work instead of ignoring it.
I see the same words over and over.
The human mind is a fragile thing.
Die…
They won’t let me free.
